As a part of our second class of Technology in the EKTEP program, we learned how to make screencasts, so I decided to make a screencast of an online book resource called Epic! Books.

This step-by-step guide will walk you through how to navigate finding a book to read from an endless library of kids books that is accessible to both students and educators/parents.
Although now that I’ve recorded the screencast and everything, the link to share it does not seem to translate over to this blog.
Technology, eh!! I guess sometimes you can try hard, but at the end of the day, technology can either help you or hold you back.
Now what? I can most definitely see Epic Books as a last resort tool for finding the right book for a student who has exhausted all other hard copy options. I’m learning the value in never giving up on finding the right book for a child, and this is a great resource. What I can’t imagine using it for is to just have kids read books on screens. In a world full of screens, I don’t think we need even more screentime, especially when books are such tactile experiences!
